Social Listening, Lionsgate. -Week 3 Blog Post

  I selected the brand Lionsgate because I have seen some of their ads recently and it stood out to me how they’re advertising in a way I haven’t seen many other companies do, at least not successfully. They’re utilizing TikTok for their ads, which is a relatively new social media site and most brands I’ve seen use it aren’t getting the same type of engagement.  Lionsgate’s value proposition is quoted from their about section of their website as “possessing a unique and varied portfolio of entertainment” and being a company “driven by its entrepreneurial culture and commitment to innovation.” “Bold, original, relatable, “ they say.    Looking at the comments under Lionsgate’s TikTok videos, they are overwhelmingly positive. Singapore by Stream - Week 2 Blog post

       I chose this article because I was browsing advertising and marketing news and it really popped out to me as a fresh approach to advertising and a really interesting idea.  Singapore by Stream is a campaign launched last month by the Singapore tourism board. Amidst the pandemic it's harder than ever to generate tourism revenue for cities that are hot destinations. Singapore’s tourism board decided to take advantage of the online live-streaming platform twitch, popular among people who livestream games or other creative works, to take people on virtual tours of the city. The premise is that a taxi driver who knows the city better than anyone will do a two hour livestream and viewers will get to interact and tell the cab driver where to go and what they want to see.  My Name is Sena, I am 23 and I have been taking classes on and off for a few years while working full time. I am currently a graphic design major but that is subject to change. I am taking this course because partly since it is a requirement for my degree but also since I will definitely need marketing skills to succeed as a freelance artist. I am very excited to be taking this course and to learn about the social media aspects of marketing and also how best to build a brand. I am a lifelong hobby artist and I recently decided to pursue art, specifically illustration and design, as my career. My favorite mediums are watercolors, colored pencils, and digital art on the iPad.
